Where have I been? Well, this past year I spent time just living life. I watched way too much tv with my husband viewing shows like Insecure, You, Grownish, Blackish, Modern Family, Big Little Lies, Cloak and Dagger, Black Lightning, Riverdale, and so much more. Listening to YouTube and Podcasts like The Read and Passing Through. Seeing BeyoncĂ© in concert. Spending lots of time with family and friends. I introverted a lot. I said the phrase “make it make sense” way too many times to count. I’ve protected my energy. I started reading books like Children of the Blood, Becoming Michelle Obama, Women Who Run With Wolves and my daily devotional Jesus Calling Enjoying Peace In His Presence. I’ve sent and received endless memes in my group chat. I’ve laughed and cried a lot. Like I said I’ve just been living.

When I started getting the desire to blog again I wanted to make sure that this time around I would be blogging about something that would be valuable for you and something I truly enjoy. To figure out what that sweet spot was for me I reassessed what I was blogging about before and considered what others have reached out to me for help about.

When I started blogging on Kelley With Love I shared tips about branding for beginners. I shared posts about how to stand out on social media, how to grow your Instagram account, and how to be a better blogger. Last year I took some time and got more specific about what I would want my niche to be. Looking at my old posts I realized that I talked a lot about images and social media. In fact, when I started my Instagram it was because I wanted to create what I didn’t see. I didn’t see many beautiful social media images with women of color in them. I didn’t even see many beautiful social media images by women of color.

I knew that I didn’t want to necessarily be a photographer, but what I did enjoy was photo and prop styling. I enjoy photo styling so much because now more than ever we are using our photos to help us relate and tell stories about our lives and our brands. Photo and prop styling is a skill I hope to help you perfect over time so that no matter where you are or who you’re with you’re able to create photos that are true to you and your story.

Ultimately, I want to see more and more women of color influencers, bloggers, and entrepreneurs on social media. I truly believe that the more we see ourselves, the more comfortable we are with being ourselves. The more we share our stories the more other women of color will feel comfortable creating and sharing their own. One piece of that puzzle is having images that stop the scroll, and that’s where I’d like to help. So when you come to the blog I want you to be able to learn about prop and photostyling and all of the little details that go into making an image stand out.

Now enough about me, I want to know more about you. I want to know how I can help you and connect with you better. I'd love it if you could take 2 minutes to complete this short survey. Thanks so much and I can't wait to connect more!
